RAIL passengers in south Essex have been walked to safety this afternoon after they were left stranded by Storm Eunice.
Greater Anglia has revealed staff had to step in and help passengers on a train near Billericay.
It was brought to a standstill after a tree fell onto the line and left the train with nowhere to go.
We’re currently in the process of helping customers in Billericay, where a tree has fallen on the line. Several trees have fallen across our network - we are working to get you on the move again. @NetworkRailAng #StormEunice pic.twitter.com/wzhklDKfOx

Trees are said to have fallen elsewhere across the rail network, with both c2c and Greater Anglia suspending all services indefinitely.
c2c says customers can use their tickets on First Essex buses until 6pm this evening.
Greater Anglia urged passengers not to travel when Storm Eunice hit at lunhctime.
The Essex Weather Centre says the highest wind speed recorded so far was 75mph at Southend Airport.
