A MAN who stole pizza and steak from a supermarket has been ordered to pay back the value of the items and then some.
Steven Cobbell, of Melba Gardens, Tilbury, was arrested by police officers on October 16 after stealing chicken, pizzas and steak from the Co-op in Princess Margaret Road, East Tilbury.
The stolen items were valued at £64 in total.
The 40-year-old was ordered by to pay compensation of £164.14 at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 17.
At the same hearing Cobbell also pleaded guilty to stealing £100.14 worth of washing up liquid and baby milk from the same Co-op on September 5.
For this offence he was given no further penalty.
