POLICE have completely closed the M25 in Essex this afternoon due to a serious crash.
Both sides of the carriageway are closed between junction 28 at Brentwood and junction 27 for the M11.
Essex Police says the collision happened on the anti-clockwise side but a full closure is in place to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

At this stage, the road is completely closed in both directions while the incident is being dealt with by emergency services.

Long queues have formed on both sides of the road, with delays of 30 minutes already repoprtedby the AA.
It is understood an air ambulance has been called to the scene to assist.

Essex Police is urging anyone with information or dash cam footage of the collision to get in touch on 101 and quite incident 640 of March 14.
Update 4.30pm
The clockwise carriageway has now reopened.
The Essex Roads Policing Unit said: "The clockwise carriageway is now reopen, we are in the working as quickly as we can to release trapped traffic on the anti-clockwise side.
"Please be patient and only use the hard shoulder for genuine emergencies."
Update 5.45pm
The clockwise side has been closed again following a two-vehicle collision.
There are now NINE miles of queues on the carriageway, which has only been open for an hour or so.
The anti-clockwise side remains shut.
Traffic has now been STOPPED again on the #M25 clockwise in #Essex between J27 (#M11) and J28 (Brook Street Interchange) due to a new collision involving two vehicles.
