From allegations of sexual touching to assaults, the south Essex magistrates courts have been seeing a range of cases. 

A man was fined in connection with driving licence offences. Stanley Anwuzia, 36, of Joslin Road, Purfleet was in court after on January 23 in West Thurock he drove a Black Ford Kuga in Stifford Hill, North Stifford when there was not in force in relation to that use such a policy of insurance or such a security in respect of third party risks.

He was fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service. His driving record was endorsed with 8 points. Also on the same day and road he used the car otherwise than in accordance with a licence authorising him to drive a motor vehicle of that class. He was given no separate penalty The court heard that also on the day and road he drive the car to which section 47 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 applied and as respects which no test certificate had been issued within the appropriate period. He was given no separate penalty.

Elliot Murphy, 21, of Radford Way, Billericay is due to stand trail after allegations of touching a woman without consent. It's alleged that on November 5 last year in Billericay he intentionally touched a woman aged 16 or over and that touching was sexual when she did not consent and he did not reasonably believe that she was consenting. It's been sent for trial at Basildon Crown Court on March 24. He was ordered not to contact directly or indirectly the woman.

Oliver Smith, 29, of School Lane, Benfleet is set to stand trial in connections with allegations of assaulting a prison officer. It's alleged that on February 10 last year, at Chelmsford Prison he assaulted the prison officer, acting in the exercise of his functions as such a worker, by beating him. Mr Smith denies the charges and he's due to go on trial at Basildon Crown Court on March 24 and he was granted unconditional bail. No indication given re VPS.

James Brooks, 26, of Westborough Road, Westcliff was in court charged with drug possession. On November 27 at Wickford in the county of Essex he had in his possession a quantity of cannabis, approximately 1 gram, a controlled drug of class B. He was discharged conditionally for 12 months and told to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £22 and ordered to pay costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

An application made for benefit deductions. Sum to be recovered is £127.00.

Tyler Humphreys, 19, of Boundary Way, Shoebury was in court in connection with assault claims. It's alleged that on August 21 at Southend he assaulted a man by beating him. He denied it and is set to stand trial, he was remanded on unconditional bail until April 1 at Southend Magistrates Court for the trial.

Nicole Riley, 29, of North Avenue, Southend was in court charged with assault. On September 30 in Southend she assaulted the victim. she was discharged conditionally for 12 months and ordered to pay £22.00 and costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
