A WESTCLIFF street has been branded a “shanty town” by furious residents due to litter-strewn across the road and flytipped rubbish.
The area has caused increasing concern in recent months, with some residents struggling to leave their bins out in Ramuz Drive for collection due to piles of rubbish.
The problem has reached a peak as a caravan and discarded fridge freezer made a section of pavement in Ramuz Drive impossible to pass and a danger to pedestrians.

A resident took to the Westborough Community Group’s Facebook page to vent his disgust saying: “What a bloody disgrace. Enough is enough. This area is becoming a shanty town.”
Speaking to the Echo, the resident added: “I think antisocial behaviour is tolerated too much these days. Parking tickets are policed and enforced as a priority for swelling council coffers but a real problem is this rubbish epidemic.
“It is the people, it’s not the council’s fault. I think the council should contact all the landlords in the area and inform them that if rubbish is dumped outside their property, no excuses then fines are applicable. The caravan is an absolute joke."
Waste contractor Veolia was called out to deal with the issue in Ramuz Drive.
Kevin Robinson, Labour councillor for Westborough ward, said: “I have been round to visit and Veolia have collected the rubbish. Myself and other ward councillors are trying to get to grips with it.
“We do have issues and I have been speaking to the council leader and officers about it. There are a number of teams involved. I don’t think there is any specific reason though more people are working from home and some people are new to the area but we have to make it clear residents must do their part.”
Mr Robinson added: “There is a caravan between two houses blocking the pavement in Ramuz Drive. It is mostly on private land but it is blocking the road so it is dangerous and we can do something about it.
“Someone has also dumped a fridge right beside it. Because it isn’t clear who the caravan belongs to we’ve been going round the houses a bit so residents aren’t happy and we are not happy with it.”
