THICK black smoke was seen billowing over Rochford tonight after a huge fire broke out.
Firefighters are tackling a fire at a recycling centre in Purdeys Way, Rochford.
Crews from Southend and Leigh were initially sent to the scene.
On arrival, firefighters requested a further three crews from Rochford, Hawkwell and Shoeburyness fire stations to assist with the fire, which was affecting approximately 100 tonnes of refuse.

Firefighters are extinguishing the fire in sections.
A spokesman for Essex County Fire & Rescue Service said: "If you live nearby, please keep your windows and doors shut as lots of smoke is coming from the scene."
