A number of Basildon drivers have been sentenced in court for driving offences.

From drink driving to no insurance charges, the courts have been dealing with a range of cases.

Lee Sippitt, 54, of Lincoln Road, Basildon, was court charged with driving whilst disqualified.

On July 13 last year, in West Thurrock he drove a van on the A13 while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence.

He was fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, pay costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution and disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 1 month.

Christopher Andrews, 56, of Ravenscourt Drive, Basildon, was charged with driving offences.

On July 26 in Chadwell St Marys, he drove a van in Brentwood Road otherwise than in accordance with a licence authorising you to drive a motor vehicle of that class.

There was no separate penalty.

On the same day and at the location, he used the van when there was not in force in relation to that use such a policy of insurance or such a security in respect of third party risks.

He was fined £80, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and costs of £90.00. His driving record endorsed with 6 points.

Clinton Cottee, 43, of Great Gregory, Basildon, faced a number of driving charges.

On January 22 in Basildon he drove a vehicle in Luncies Road after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his breath, namely 83 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

A community order was made. The defendant must comply with the following requirements: Rehabilitation Activity Requirement: Offender up to a maximum of 15 days.

He was fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, pay costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

He was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 40 months.

On the same day and location he used the vehicle, when there was not in force in relation to that use such a policy of insurance or such a security in respect of third party risks.

There was no separate penalty.

On the day and in the road he used the vehicle, otherwise than in accordance with a licence authorising you to drive a motor vehicle of that class.

No separate penalty was made.

Jamie Bartley, 33, of Shepeshall, Basildon, was sentenced for driving offences.

On December 7 2020 in Basildon he drove a van while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence.

A community order made. The defendant must comply with the following requirements: Rehabilitation Activity Requirement up to a maximum of 20 days, unpaid Work Requirement for 100 hours within the next twelve months.

On the same day and in the location, he used the vehicle, when there was not in force in relation to that use such a policy of insurance or such a security in respect of third party risks.

No separate penalty was made.

John Taylor, 53, of Berdens, Basildon, was sentenced for insurance charges.

On August 28 in Basildon he drove the car when there was not in force in relation to that use such a policy of insurance or such a security in respect of third party risks.

He was fined £660, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £66 and costs of £90 and his driving record endorsed with 8 points.

On the same day in Basildon, he drove the car otherwise than in accordance with a licence authorising you to drive a motor vehicle of that class.

No separate penalty was made.

Lyn Johnson, 46, Takely Ride, Basildon was in court over drink driving charges.

She was charged with Drive whilst unfit through drink, on February 13 in West Yorkshire she drove a vehicle, whilst unfit to drive through drink.

The charge was withdrawn in favour of another offence.

On the same date she drove the vehicle, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in your breath, namely 51 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeded the prescribed limit.

She was fined £150, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34 and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

She was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 14 months.
