A man has died after suffering serious injuries in a crash on the A127.
The 88-year-old, from Hornchurch, sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision on the A127 at Childerditch, near Brentwood yesterday morning.
Despite the best efforts of medics, he has died and Essex Police say his family have been made aware and are being supported.
Police were called to the scene shortly after 10.30am yesterday morning.
A road closure was put in place whilst the incident was dealt with. The road remained closed until shortly after 6.30pm yesterday evening.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
"He has been released under investigation.
"We continue to appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage of it to contact us as soon as possible. Please quote incident 329 of Monday 25 April when providing any information."
