HOLIDAYMAKERS have expressed their excitement as easyJet has returned to Southend.
Airline giant easyJet returned to Southend Airport earlier this month with its inaugural summer flight heading to Mallorca.
This kicked off a new summer schedule, with four flights a week to Majorca, six to Malaga and two to Faro.
EasyJet had left the airport in the summer of 2021 after nearly a decade due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Its eagerly anticipated return has been a massive boost for the airport in its post-pandemic recovery.

One customer said: "We flew with you this afternoon and it was great.
"It felt really clean, very efficient and everyone was so friendly and seemed genuinely pleased to be back."

There are calls for the airline to add Alicante to the list, which airport bosses say is also on their bucket list.

After the flight to Mallorca on May 1, an airport spokesman said: “Southend Airport is delighted to welcome back passengers for the first flights from the newly minted City of Southend.
"People living locally, in London and across the east of England can now get back to quickly and easily travelling to our airport, breezing through one of the UK’s quickest security experiences and relaxing and indulging in our award-winning terminal, before jetting off on easyJet flights to hugely popular summer destinations, Malaga, Palma and Faro.”
EasyJet flights from Southend are running between May and October as part of its summer schedule.
