The Southend Vulcan Restoration Trust have launched a £30,000 appeal to repair their old hangar at Southend Airport.
The historic RAF bomber was housed in hangar 6 at the airport in 2017, but because of a large fire which completely destroyed the Air Livery hangar on the north side of the airport they had to move out of hangar 6 so that Air Livery could carry on respraying aircraft in there.
However, now that a new hangar has been built for Air Livery, the trust have been offered their old hangar back again and just signed a lease for it with the airport.
But a considerable amount of work needs to be done to repair the hangar including roof repairs and electrical works.

The hangar walls and floor also need deep cleaning because of all of the aircraft respraying which has been done inside the building over the past five years.
The trust have launched an appeal to raise £30,000 on their JustGiving page to carry out the repair work and turn it into a fit for purpose facility where visitors can be welcomed.
Initial work has already started and it is hoped the bomber will be back in hangar 6 in time for its 60th birthday in August.
In the meantime it will continue to be stored outside the hangar once remedial work has been completed on that area too.
