Police are investigating an assault in a south Essex high street which left a man with serious injuries.
A man in his 60s had been waiting for a taxi when he was approached by another man who reportedly punched him in the face and attacked him.
The assault took place near the Rayleigh High Street taxi rank, outside of Costa Coffee and Boots, between 11.15pm and 11.30pm on April 30.
Essex Police believes this was an unprovoked attack.

The victim was left with a broken ankle and broken nose as a result of the attack.
His attacker has been described to us around 45 years-old, 5ft 8ins tall, with gelled hair and wearing a navy-blue shirt and skin-tight jeans.
