Firefighters are working to extinguish a large fire at an industrial estate in Grays.
Residents in the area and as far as Kent have taken photos and videos of the large, black clouds of smoke coming from the Globe Industrial Estate.
The smoke can be seen pouring over Grays.
Firefighters from Basildon, Grays and Orsett are on the scene of the blaze and say they are making steady progress to extinguish the fire in sections.
A spokesman for the Essex Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters are currently working to extinguish a fire in an industrial unit measuring approximately 35 metres by 35 metres.
"Crews are working to extinguish the fire in sections from the ground and from above using an Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP)."
Essex Police officers are also at the site and a number of roads have been closed whilst emergency services deal with the incident.
Rectory Road, Overcliff Road and Towers Road are shut.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "We are currently on scene of a fire at an industrial estate in Grays alongside other emergency services.

"There are road closures in place, so please avoid the Towers Road area and if you can, use an alternative route."
Residents in the area are also being warned to keep their windows and doors closed.
