A man has been charged with a string of offences including attempted murder after a woman was seriously assaulted near Southend park.
James Reilly, 30 of Guildford Road, Southend has been charged with attempt murder, aggravated burglary, criminal damage, possess knife blade and or sharp pointed article in a public place, racially and or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm, distress.

He is due to appear at Southend Magistrates Court this morning.
It comes after police were called to Kensington Road, Southend near Southchurch Park, shortly before midday on Sunday after the woman was seriously assaulted.
She was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
