A major Southend city centre road is closed while police, fire and ambulance crews are dealing with an incident.

Chichester Road is closed in both directions at Warrior Square due to a police incident.

The road is closed off between Warrior Square and Southchurch Road while emergency services deal.

Eye-witness Aaron Chesham said: "It's a very calm situation at the moment, the specialist hart team has just arrived, two fire engines, four police, two first responsers and two ambulances at the moment."

Residents are being urged to find alternative routes while the road remains closed.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We are on the scene of an ongoing incident at Chichester Road, Southend.

"Chichester Road between Warrior Square and Southchurch Road is closed off whilst emergency services deal.

"We would ask the public to find alternative routes."
