NANDO’S will be opening a new restaurant in Basildon later this year.
The nation’s favourite flame-grilled peri-peri chicken chain has signed up to Basildon Council’s flagship East Square cinema development.
The new restaurant will open later this year, with work beginning on August 2.
A spokesman from Nando’s said: “We are relocating after successfully trading in Basildon since 2008 and look forward to being part of the new restaurant and leisure location in the town centre. The new restaurant will have 100 covers, a unique Nando’s design and will open later this year.”
The East Square development will include six new dining experiences, including Orleto Lounge which opened in February and Kaspa’s Desserts opening in Autumn.
The council has three more units to fill ahead of the opening of the Empire Cinema, set to be finally up an running in October.
Councillor Craig Rimmer, responsible for regeneration, said: “I am so excited to welcome Nando’s to the East Square development in Basildon Town Centre. The success of Orleto Lounge and the recent announcement of the upcoming Kaspa’s Desserts, shows that people want to spend their time and money in Basildon.
"Nando’s adds even more choice to this popular destination and the East Square development is bringing opportunity and a much-needed boost to the town centre.”
