RUBBISH was left strewn across Southend seafront as people flocked in their thousands to the beaches to soak up the summer heatwave.
With temperatures reaching above 30c the beaches across the city were packed on both Saturday and Sunday.
Beachgoers used whatever space they could find to lap up the scorching heat.
But the weekend’s festivities did not come without their downsides.
On Sunday morning, the beaches were a mess, with hundreds of drink and food packages left sprawled across the beaches.
Eastern Esplanade was also filled with rubbish, as bins overflowed and selfish revellers refused to clean up after themselves.
Among the items left scattered across the sea front were beer cans, McDonald's wrappers, sun tents, ice creams cones, water melons, towells and nitrous oxide cannisters.
