The air show has not been held since May 2012.

Vice chair Alex Penn, 27, said: “The timing is right and is exactly what our newly appointed city deserves! Our aim is to be 100 per cent transparent with the public, if it was easy, it would have come back years ago, so we fully anticipate some bumps in the road which is why we haven’t rushed to bring it back in 2023.
“To put on an event of this scale takes thousands of man hours and a huge team of people.”
He added: “As it always was, we plan for the event to be free and all funding will be secured through grants, sponsorships and donations so if you’re looking to sponsor, join the committee, or be a vendor then expressions of interest can be submitted via our website now.” T
The Southend Airshow committee is a not-for-profit organisation, with the group pledging to give all excess money at the end of the event to charity.
