MOTORISTS were urged to avoid a busy south Essex bridge this morning due to a police incident.
Officers were on the scene of an incident on the QE2 Bridge, which provides a key route between Thurrock and Dartford, at 6.30am today.
Traffic backlogged between junction 31 and junction 1A as two lanes were closed and drivers were warned to take “extra care”.

A tweet from Thurrock Council reads: “Police are currently on the scene of an incident on the QE2 Bridge.
“Traffic is backing up between J31 and J1A and drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible for the next 60 - 90 minutes. Please take extra care on the roads.”
A police spokeswoman said: "We were called to the Queen Elizabeth Bridge just before 6.30am today, Sunday, August 28.
"Two lanes were closed whilst a vehicle was recovered. The bridge was reopened shortly after."
