A FRIGTHENED family say they no longer feel safe in their own home after a yob hurled part of a paving slab through one of their windows late at night.

Tyler Blake and his partner were in bed when they suddenly heard a loud bang downstairs in their home in Valley Road, Billericay.

They went down to find shattered glass everywhere after an object, thought to be part of a paving slab, had been hurled through a window near the front door.

Mr Blake, 32, says his family remain badly shaken by the incident, which occurred just before midnight on Sunday.

He said: “My partner is petrified of being home alone without me, she is on edge and scared that something else will happen.

“It is a horrible violation of what should be our safe place.

“We have two children and a small dog and we shouldn't be in fear of their safety.”

Mr Blake says one of his children had walked past the window targeted by the brick just moments before it was smashed.

The incident has been reported to police but Mr Blake fears it may be difficult to track down the culprit, who was caught on CCTV.

He added: “When checking the CCTV we saw that someone had ran to our house, thrown a brick through the window and then ran off into a car and drove off.

“The boy had his hood tied tightly around his face and couldn't be identified by us or the police.

“I feel quite upset and angry because of how scared my partner and children are.

“We have a toybox in the front room full of my youngest one’s toys and I’m still finding glass in there.”

He added: “Our daughter had walked past this window just minutes before this happened and so she could have suffered life- threatening injuries if the timing had been different.

“The object came completely through the window and dented the wall on the other side of the room.

“I can't help but think about what could have happened and it’s sickening.”
