Police have arrested the rider of an electric vehicle in Thundersley on suspicion of drugs offences.
Officers seized the electric vehicle last night in after they searched the rider under section 23 of the misuse of drugs act.
This type of electric vehicle is classed as a motor vehicle under UK legislation and as such requires registration with the DVLA.
The rider needs a driving licence, insurance, road tax and MOT must be in place for it to be used legally on a public road.
A spokesman for Essex Police in Castle Point said: "We receive a lot of complaints about these types of electric vehicles being used in an anti-social manner across the district."
The rider, a man aged 21 from Westcliff, was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences, drug driving and careless driving as well as not having insurance.
He has been released under investigation whilst police await laboratory results for drug driving.
