BASILDON’s much-loved Wetherspoons is set to close this month as bosses insist they remain committed to staying in the town.
Bosses confirmed the Moon on the Square will close on September 25 ahead of plans to knock it down and replace it with hundreds of flats.
It is not know when a new site will open, as Wetherspoons bosses are planning on shelling out £3 million on a new site opposite the new Empire cinema, which will include a roof garden and be based across two floors.
However, the closure of the old pub will mark the end of an era for many.
