A MOTORCYCLIST has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following a crash on the A127 this morning.

The incident, which involved the motorcyclist and two cars, happened just after 7am on the London-bound carriageway of the A127 at Rayleigh Weir just after 7am this morning.

The rider of the motorbike was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital with serious injuries; they are not thought to be life-threatening.

The road was closed while emergency services worked at the scene and investigated.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.06am today to a road traffic collision on the A127 near Thundersley involving a car and motorcycle.

"An ambulance, rapid response vehicle, operations manager and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene. An adult man was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital for treatment.” 

Police are appealing for witness to come forward and assist the investigation.
