Southend Pier's opening hours have been amended for the day of the Queen's funeral as visitors and colleagues pay their respects.
The Queen’s funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, September 19 at 11am.
Queen Elizabeth II lies in state in Westminster until 6.30am on Monday, after which the coffin will be taken in a grand military procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey for the state funeral.
Southend Pier has announced it will be opening from 1pm to 8pm, with last entrance at 7pm.
This is to allow visitors and colleagues to pay their respects during Her Majesty's funeral.
A spokesman for Southend Pier and Railway said: "Southend Pier will be opening from 1pm to 8pm (last entrance 7pm) on Monday 19 September, to allow our visitors and colleagues to pay their respects on the date of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral."
The pier is usually open daily from 10.15am to 8pm with last entry one hour before closing.
