CAR parking charges have been cut at some country parks to encourage more people to visit them.
Essex County Council has reduced the price of season tickets at seven of its beauty spots, including Cudmore Grove in East Mersea.
A 12-month season ticket has been slashed by 40 per cent to £60 and a six-month ticket now costs £35 instead of £50.
Prices for people aged over 60 and disabled badge holders have also been lowered.
However, the daily rate of £2 has stayed the same.
Tracey Chapman, county council cabinet member for environment and waste, said: "Our country parks are a truly magnificent asset to the council and the county as a whole.
"By reducing our car park charges we hope to reward regular users, encourage people to make greater use of these wonderful parks and give them the opportunity to explore other parks across the county.
"Visiting country parks in Essex is a great way to experience and appreciate the environment, get active and improve your quality of life."
The charges also apply to Danbury Country Park, Hadleigh Castle Country Park, Thorndon Country Park, Weald Country Park, Belhus Woods Country Park and Great Notley Country Park.
Application forms for season tickets can be downloaded from the county council's website essexcc.gov.uk
