A ROADSHOW aiming to steer kids away from drugs and crime is returning to Basildon.
The 2Smart roadshow tours the county every year using dancing, theatre and comedy to warn youngsters about drugs.
This year it starts in Basildon at the Towngate Theatre on Wednesday, April 16, before heading to other towns including Grays and Southend.
For the past 11 years the roadshows have been known as 2Smart4Drugs, but this year the name changed to 2Smart as it will also cover issues including alcohol, bullying and knife awareness.
Insp Kevin Whipps, head of Essex Police's children and young people's policing team, said: "We have changed the focus of the roadshow to make it more relevant and up-to-date to children and young people in Essex.
"We want the roadshows to be more varied and deal with wider issues and issues that are often in the news."
The show will be at the Civic Hall, Grays, on Thursday May 1, and the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend on Monday, July 7.
