I am sure all council tax payers are pleased Anna Waite has been fully cleared of any wrongdoing in terms of her election expenses (April 9). I wish her well and am pleased she has been exonerated.
Why does the leader of the council, however, take the shine off her positive result by criticising those who brought up the issue?
It is well known that openness in a democracy is linked to stability. Bringing an issue out into the open is to the benefit of all and will improve the council's stability and reputation.
Freedom of information is not, Mr Holdcroft, something to regret.
The Crown Prosecution Services was the body who looked into this not his council colleagues. No one should be criticised for an open and transparent council.
Come on, Mr Holdcroft, support and congratulate your foot soldiers like Mrs Waite, don't just criticise the CPS.
