The Taxpayers Alliance has attacked public services without checking the facts (Apr 14).
The post of European and international officer for Essex County Council will more than cover its costs by bringing Euro-pean funding to Essex which will in turn create jobs and business opportunities for the benefit of Essex residents and council taxpayers.
This funding will also be used on projects to improve the quality of life across our county. The person who gets the job will more than deliver value for taxpayers' money and should be supported by groups like the Taxpayers Alliance.
We have a duty to offer the very best services at the very best value.
Perhaps before this group criticises us they should visit County Hall to see the excellent work being done by members and officers, who are also taxpayers, to cut out waste and ensure that the people of Essex get those services that they need and deserve.
Cllr Tracey Chapman
Essex County Council
