I READ with astonishment the article about Billericay MP John Baron attempting to stop funds to a racial equality organisation.
In his opinion the organization appears biased, but he has taken the incredibly ill-advised step to throw his weight around and write to the National Lottery to stop funds.
Mr Baron states that in order to pursue racial equality a fair and balance approach is essential and he therefore insinuates that the Racial Equality Council is not fair or balanced.
But I hope he will agree with me that the rights of minorities need to be positively championed in order to achieve equality with the rest of the community.
It is not only travelers which the Essex Racial Equality Council deals with, but it also assists with many other ethnic minorities across our community.
If Mr Baron is for a fair and equal society (which I assume he is) how does he hope to achieve this by withdrawing funds from those very organizations that are working towards this goal? Shouldn't we expect a more balanced approach from a Member of Parliament?
