HAVE fun being a fundraiser by attending the Stargate 08 charity variety show at the Towngate Theatre, in Basildon, on Sunday, April 27.
Starring Kid's Choir and popular band Wheelz, the show features local acts giving up their time for free to help Southend Hospital, and in particular the Neptune Children's ward.
The concert is being organised by the Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill, whose members formed the five piece group Wheelz, with a little help from their Rochford counterparts, just 18 months ago.
Since then, they have been in constant demand, playing their music and entertaining a wide variety of audiences, with a strict band emphasis on having lots of fun.
Kids Choir, formed in 1996, are a lively bunch of six to 16 year olds, who are equally at home singing music plucked from today's charts, as they are with classics from the last four decades. The choir is backed by an equally young rock band, playing keyboards, drums, guitars, bass and percussion.
The show appeals to all generations of rock and pop fans, so it doesn't matter whether you like songs by recent artists like Keane, or if you prefer a bit of Queen, the Beatles and Rolling Stones.
Also appearing will be singer Zoe, who will perform her cabaret act and compere the evening, plus singers Dave Firth and Coyla McPherson - products of the Lynne Dutton Academy - blues band Out of Time, folk singer Becs Davies-Riand and magician Richard Graham.
