CONTROVERSIAL plans to build new homes in Rayleigh have been blocked by councillors.
One scheme, for four detached houses in a back garden in Trinity Road, received 38 letters of objection from angry neighbours.
This was refused by Rochford District Council's development control committee.
Another scheme, for eight new homes in Victoria Avenue, was also turned down.
Both had been recommended for approval by council officers.
