ACID was thrown over a car during the middle of the night as it was parked in a residential street, according to the furious owner.
Heidi Shearing, 55, woke up to find the paint work of her car severely damaged after a corrosive substance was thrown over the vehicle as it was park in Nobles Green Road, Eastwood.
The incident, which took place overnight on Sunday, has sparked other residents to come forward and claim their cars have also been damaged.
Heidi said she is still in shock that someone would use such substance.

She said: “I am still in shock that someone would do this in our area with acid.
“I am gutted as it doesn’t seem possible to be able to have anything nice anymore without someone else ruining it.
“It was parked on my drive, and we have an electric gate too, so it must have been thrown over that.
“The whole bonnet, wing mirrors, part of the driver’s door, and passenger door has damage.
“With the costs I am still awaiting an insurance inspection at the moment.
“But, I have also heard that a neighbour at the top of the road had this happen to his car too and it was so bad they have had to write his car off.”
The most common types of acid used in attacks are sulphuric and nitric acid.
It has not been confirmed if the substance used was acid, nor the type if so.
However, the incident had been reported to the police, but the force said the investigation has currently been filed due to “lack of positive lines of enquiry”.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called to an address on Nobles Green Road in Leigh in the early hours of yesterday morning, September 19, following reports of criminal damage to a car, which is believed to have occurred the previous evening.
“Due to a lack of positive lines of enquiry, this investigation has been filed.”
