I welcome the fact the Echo has given Anna Waite the opportunity to explain what's going on with Priory Crescent. Sadly, in spite of having read her letter (Echo,April 22), I am still nonethe wiser.

Mrs Waite claims the current Tory proposal is intended to increase traffic flow by changing the roundabout to traffic lights. Forgive me, but wasn't the reason so many roundabouts were installed in the first place - instead of lights - for this very reason? Are we just going to see this changed back again in a year or so, at yet more cost to us taxpayers?

Mrs Waite goes on to say that "there will be pedestrian crossings either as now or altered". So what she is saying is they haven't finished the plans yet. How can they claim they increase traffic flow?

The area where the Saxon burial site was discovered is to be "landscaped", and a plaque will be added. This is described as "restoration". Surely it would be easier and cheaper to just leave the place alone?

To claim our taxes will pay for the clean up after Camp Bling has gone is surely disingenuous, as the Blingers have always maintained they will do this themselves. I wonder, then, where the money earmarked forthe clean up will go.

Mrs Waite goes on to point out that much of the cost of the new proposals, whatever they end up being, won't be met from council tax. But they have to come from somewhere, and in the end it's still us paying. Or does money now grow onthe trees she claims won't be cut down?

The £1.8 million already spent "seems high" as she recently stated, yet now she tries to spin this waste of our cash as a boon to us all. Could there be an election on the horizon?
