Allan Davies, the Labour Parliamentary candidate, says the rights of minorities need to be championed in order to achieve equality (April 22).

Normally, I would agree with him, but this hardly applies when the traveller minority in question has persistently broken planning law.

The best way to ensure everyone has equal rights is to treat all people equally, with the same laws applying to everyone.

Those who lobby for or allow these travellers preferential treatment discriminate against the law abiding majority.
