A Leigh resident who has just turned 103 says he isn’t fazed to be another year older as “it is just a number”.
Albert Fredrick Cambrai lives at Havengore House and celebrated turning 103 years old on Friday.
Back in his early years, Albert joined the army and was an instructor during World War Two, where he was posted to Nigeria and was in the 14th battalion in the Royal West African regiment.
Later, he went on to marry Esme and the couple enjoyed 36 happy years together.
He is dad to two children, Diane and Roger, two grandchildren, Victoria and Adam, and two great grandchildren, Eden and Asa.
He said his secret to living such a long life is making sure you keep the brain active, and always find something interesting to do.
Albert said: “Turning 103 does not faze me, it is just a number!
“My secret to everyone would be to keep the brain active, I always have.
“You need to find something interesting to do.
“I have had a good life; I have worked hard but I have played harder!
“I am going to celebrate by going to my daughters for Fish and Chips.”
