A JD Wetherspoon pub in Essex is being sold as the chain has announced the closure of a host of its venues.

Last Post in Loughton is one of 32 pubs Wetherspoons is putting on the market after previously warning that it could face losses of up to £30million.

The pub chain warned over annual losses after hiking staff wages and ramping up spending on repairs and marketing amid a slow recovery in bar trade.

In a statement, company spokesman Eddie Gershon said: "On occasion, Wetherspoon does put some of its pubs up for sale. This is a commercial decision.

“We understand that customers and staff will be disappointed with it. The pubs will continue to operate as Wetherspoon outlets until they are sold."

Commercial property specialists CBRE and Savills have reportedly been drafted in to market the properties.
