BLUES boss Steve Tilson has already assembled a summer shopping list of transfer targets to help fire his side back into the Championship.

The Shrimpers' promotion hopes were ended by Doncaster Rovers at the semi-final stage of the play-offs this time around.

And in a bid to avoid similar disappointment next season Tilson has drawn up a list of targets, with a new goalkeeper, a left back and a striker his main priorities.

"They are the positions we're looking to strengthen in at the moment," said the Seasiders chief, who was at Wembley to watch both the League One and League Two play-offs over the weekend.

"Having released Steve Collis we need to bring in another keeper and I don't know what's going on with Charlie Mulgrew either at the moment so that means we need a left back too."

Mulgrew ended the season on loan at Southend United from Wolverhampton Wanderers, but it is not yet clear whether the move will become permanent.

With Che Wilson having been handed a free transfer, young Johnny Herd is currently the club's only recognised left-back and Tilson is therefore keen to bring in another defender on that side.

"We're certainly looking but no bids or offers have gone in for anyone at this stage," he confirmed.

"We've let a few go so we need to replace them in order to make the squad strong, but players are becoming available all the time and at this stage the work doesn't really stop.

"You're always looking for players and it's important to bring in the right ones."

Tilson will also be keen to bolster his strike-force as forwards Matt Harrold and Richie Foran both seem certain to leave Roots Hall during the summer.
