A child has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car.
The pedestrian was involved in the crash which involved a grey Mercedes car and a pedestrian, at the junction of High Road and Croft Road in Benfleet shortly after 4pm yesterday.
The pedestrian, a child, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. He remains in hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses. An Essex Police spokesman said: "No arrests have been made and our enquiries are ongoing. We need anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam or doorbell footage or it and has not yet spoken to us to please get in contact.
