A man was left with a range of injuries and four people were arrested in connection with GBH and false imprisonment offences after an incident on Canvey.
Here's all we know about what happened on Friday afternoon. Four people were arrested on suspicion of GBH and false imprisonment following the incident in Third Road on Friday afternoon.
Witnesses claim armed police were on the scene and some officers were in the road for hours.
Police say the four suspects were released on bail. One resident who asked to remain anonymous said: "Due to an ongoing incident police firearms units attended an address in Third Avenue, Canvey on Friday.
"Two people appeared to get arrested and police remained on scene for around 24 hours.
"There seemed to bw a large police presence but I couldn’t put a number on it. It was not something you see ordinarily so it was very dramatic and because of the police keeping a guard on the house I can only assume it was quite serious."

An Essex Police spokesman said: "We received reports of a disturbance in Third Avenue, shortly before 4pm on Friday, during which a man had been seriously assaulted.
"He sustained injuries to his face, torso and legs. He was taken to hospital for treatment and is expected to recover. The victim and his family are being supported by our officers.
"As a result of our enquiries, four people were arrested on suspicion of GBH and false imprisonment. They have been released on bail until later this month."
