CHEESE with your lunch, sir? Mac and cheese, cheese toastie, halloumi fries and maybe even a three-cheese special are among the tempting treats for cheese lovers at a newly-refreshed Leigh restaurant.
Grate The House of Cheese, in Clements Arcade in Leigh Broadway, relaunched on Saturday with a spruced up interior and menu tailored for cheese fanatics.
From three-cheese blend toasties, to Spanish chorizo mac and cheese to a croque madame, the restaurant’s wide menu offers cheese lovers their own slice of heaven.
Co-owners Nick Jones and Gabriel Todino were delighted with how the launch event went and customers told the Echo they have were very happy with the revamped restaurant.
Mr Jones said: “It’s been going brilliant and we had a busy morning. The feedback has been good so far with customers very happy. This was here previously and we’ve taken it over, we’ve kept some of the favourites and added a few bits as well.
“As the name says, it’s pretty much all cheese related, we do cheese toasties with our three blend cheeses, we’ve got mac and cheese with five blend of cheeses and we do cheese on toast, we also have a range of sides, including halloumi fries and more.”
“We make everything from scratch and Gabriel’s a really good chef and he works from very early so everything is made from fresh.
“We don’t have any freezer or store any cooked food or anything like that.”
He added: “I live in Leigh, so we are very excited to open here and bring something different and those different flavours to the town. The Broadway is such a nice place to open and it’s a real community high street feel down here.”
The doors closed earlier in the year after the previous owner decided to take a career change.
Customers offered glowing reviews of the food.
Bradley Weinsteir, 31, from America, who is staying with friends in London, was blown away by the quality of food on offer.
He said: “I think it’s fantastic and I had the mac and cheese which was just divine.
“I absolutely will be coming back and maybe even later today for one of their toasties. The food has such a great mix of sources and was all cooked to perfection. It also had a great blend of cheeses too.”
Mr Jones says the future is bright for the restaurant, which sources its artisan cheeses from local suppliers, with plans to further expand the menu.
