A STYLIST from Leigh was given the opportunity to colour famous actor Ryan Gosling’s hair for a Gucci advert.
Ben Gregory, owner of Gregory Dean Salon in Leigh and Rayleigh for 11 years, had the opportunity to style the star’s hair for Gucci’s new luggage campaign.
Alongside running his salons, Ben also works as session colourist - meaning he provides colouring services for fashion houses’ advertising campaigns.
Ben works extensively with Gucci and has had the chance to colour a number of celebrities’ hair, including Gosling earlier this year.
He was unable to disclose the location of the colouring but described the actor, who has starred in hit films such as La La Land and Blade Runner 2049, as an “absolute gentleman”.

He said: “Ryan trusted me completely.
“He had recently wrapped filming on the Barbie movie and still had the very bleached white blonde of his character Ken when I met him.
“We discussed, at length, the possibilities and settled on a natural sandy blonde which complimented the backdrop perfectly.
“Ryan was really open to all of my thoughts and ideas about his hair colour.
“It wasn’t a case of anyone asserting control, I think it was more a case of making suggestions and seeing what felt right and would look best in the final images, it was very much a collaboration.
“It can be a little surreal working with people who you recognise from the movies, TV, or press, but once you get chatting, they really are just regular people.”
Ben has also styled Lana Del Rey’s hair for the Met Gala event in 2018.
Despite styling a number of famous people’s hair, Ben says he always feels pressure regardless of whose hair he is working with.
He added: “I feel pressure to get my colour right whoever I may be working with.
“I travel extensively with my work, but when I am not travelling I go back to the salon and see some of the clients that I have had for years.
“I aways feel pressure to achieve the best result - be it a salon customer or Hollywood star.”
