The south Essex magistrates have been busy again with a range of cases.

Here's our latest round up of cases in front of the magistrates.

Jose-tiago Santos, 31, of Ditten Court Road, Southend was in court for offences.

On September 6 in Southend with intent to cause a victim harassment, alarm or distress, he used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour, thereby causing that person or another harassment, alarm or distress.

A community order was made and he was ordered to carry out 70 hours unpaid work.

On the same day and in the town he assaulted an emergency worker, namely a Police Constable, acting in the exercise of his functions as such a worker, by beating him.

A community order was made, and he was ordered to complete 70 hours of unpaid work, ordered to pay compensation of £50, pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £114 and pay costs of £145 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Kevin Woodley, 54, of Southernhay Close, Basildon was in court for harassment.

Between June 24 and July 10 in Basildon he pursued a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of a victim and which he knew or ought to have known amounted to the harassment of her in that he called and left 54 voice mails and sent over 50 emails, as well as several messages which have caused the woman to feel harassed.

He was fined £80, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £32 and pay costs of £105 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Between the same dates he allegedly pursued a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment of a woman and which he knew or ought to have known amounted to the harassment of her in that via telephone communication he sent the victim tens of messages of a threatening and abusive manner which have made the victim feel harassed.

This offence withdrawn.

Anthony Dixon, 55, of Eagle Way, Shoebury was sentenced for drug driving.

On January 28 in Newquay he drive a car when the proportion of a drug, Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood exceeded the legal limit.

He was fined £120, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, pay costs of £40 to the Crown Prosecution Service and he was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for a year.

On the same date in the town he had in his possession 2.53grams of cannabis. There was no separate penalty.

Andrew Anthony, 36, of Whitefriars Crescent, Westcliff was in court in connection with an our of control dog offence.

On November 12 in Wickford he was in charge of a dog, which was dangerously out of control in the back of a garden in Wickford and whilst so out of control injured a victim.

The matter has seen sent to Basildon Crown Court for sentence on October 21 and he was put on unconditional bail.

Gregory Webster, 38, of Little Bentley, Basildon was sentenced for assaulting a man by beating him.

On August 8 in Witham he assaulted a man by beating him.

A community order was made and he was ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work, to pay compensation of £120, pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £95, pay costs of £100 to the Crown Prosecution Service and an application was made for benefit deductions. The sum to be recovered is £315.

Desmond Dube, 33, of Collier Way, Southend was in court in connection with an emergency worker assault.

It's alleged that on August 25 in Southend he allegedly assaulted an emergency worker, namely a Police Constable acting in the exercise of his functions as such a worker The matter was sent for trial to Basildon Crown Court on October 21 and he was placed on unconditional bail.
