OFFICERS have busted a ‘chop shop’ in south Essex where more than £500k worth of cars were identified.
The Essex Police Stolen Vehicle Intelligence Unit confirmed there were remains of more than £500k worth of cars identified in a Wickford ‘chop shop’.
They say an investigation is now ongoing, and owners will be notified in due course.
A ‘chop shop’ is a place where stolen vehicles are dismantled so that parts can be sold or used to repair other stolen vehicles.

A spokesman for the Essex Police Stolen Vehicle Intelligence Unit said: “A long day dealing with this stolen vehicle chop shop in Wickford.
“Remains of over £500k worth of cars identified by us.
“Great support and assistance from Essex Police Basildon.
“Investigation is ongoing with Essex Police.
“Owners will be notified in due course.”
