A MUCH-loved paddling pool could be reopened next summer as residents recall fond memories of the iconic attraction.
Canvey’s Stay and Splash Paddocks Paddling Pool last opened in the summer of 2019.
For decades the paddling pool, sand pit and children’s play equipment had provided children with fun packed days during the warmer months of the year.

Now, the former operators are in early discussions with the council about a potential new lease to reopen the site – which last opened in Summer of 2019 – to the public.
Amid online speculation over the future of the pool, the Echo reached out to Sarah Walby who had ran the site for four years until its closure.
“We would absolutely love to get it back open,” she said.
“We are only in the very early stages, and nothing is concrete, but we have had some positive meetings with the council.
“We are hopeful we can come to an agreement as we know how much the people of Canvey loved it.”
She added: “Seeing as it has been closed so long, the big hurdle is the finances involved to get it back into shape.”
The pool, which has since become overrun with weeds and is in a dilapidated state, initially closed over a disagreement between the council and operators over the length of the lease.
But both parties are now hopeful they can work together to come to an agreement to bring it back to life.
Resident Andrew Robson, 65, of Canvey, says the island has not been the same since the pool closed, as it was a place where families created many happy memories.
“Our children used this lido and park for many years, they loved it. We now have grandchildren but there are few playgrounds on Canvey for them to enjoy.
“We used to take the children to this place, and they could enjoy meeting and playing with other children sometimes spending a few hours playing and using the splash pool.”
In a statement issued at the time of closure, the council said the ageing venue would require “extensive upgrading and refurbishment works” to meet health and safety legislation.
