Drivers are facing long delays this morning after the A127 was shut by police at a busy junction following concerns for a man's welfare.
The road was shut for a time London bound near the Fairglen junction with cones and a police car shutting off the road and traffic was being diverted off the road and to the roundabout below.
Officers say they were called to concerns for the welfare of a man in on a bridge over A127.
The road was shut at about 6.07am this morning and was then re-opened at about 7.19am.
Following the police incident traffic is currently queuing traffic remains back towards the Rayleigh Weir Interchange.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "We were called following concerns for the welfare of a man in on a bridge over A127, Wickford just after 2.50am today, Friday 14 October.
"A man was brought to safety and left in the care of medical professionals. The road is now open."
