A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and robbery after a huge emergency service presence was seen in Southend.

Police and medics were seen in Chichester Road this morning and witnesses claim they saw blood on the pavement.

Officers say nobody was seriously injured.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Officers responded quickly to reports of disturbances in Southend at around 9.15am today. We were called to incidents in Sutton Road and Chichester Road.

"A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of robbery and assault. Nobody was seriously injured. Our enquiries continue. If you have any information or dashcam footage please contact us and quote incident number 0250 of 26 October 2022.
