Basildon's Toys R Us store was loved across Essex before it shut in 2018 - now the firm is making a High Street comeback.
The famous toy shop has revealed it is returning to high streets as part of a deal with WH Smith.
This marks the first time the retailer will come back as a store since 2018, when its popular Basildon shop closed its doors.
The south Essex building remained empty for four years until Away Cheltenham put forward proposals to use the shop as an ‘urban’ storage facility, called Storeaway.
The plans were approved by Basildon Council in May.
Toys R Us is currently selling thousands of toys from more than 100 different suppliers online but now it will be bringing stores back.
And it's good news for families as new branches could be popping up within WH Smith stores by next year, The Sun reports.
The paper says the company is signed on for a year-long trial at least, beginning with nine new openings during the first six months.
However, it's not yet been revealed where the shops will open up initially.
