Two men have been arrested this morning as part of the police response to a serious incident in Southend earlier this month.

The arrests were made this morning in Southend and Westcliff.

The men, aged in their 30s, are being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.

Another man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of a knife or blade. He has been released under investigation.

Police were called shortly before 4.25am on October 11 following reports of a disturbance in York Road.

When officers attended, they found a teenage boy with serious injuries.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

A second teenager was taken to hospital with injuries to his legs.

That teenager – 18-year-old Nicholas Manueno, of Cranberry Lane, London E16 – has been charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine, possession with intent to supply heroin, aggravated burglary, and common assault.

He was remanded into custody after a hearing at Southend Magistrates’ Court on October 20 and is due to appear in Chelmsford Crown Court on November 17.

Another man – 27-year-old Constantin Ozansoy, of Chingford Road, Walthamstow – has already been charged with aggravated burglary and common assault.

He’s been remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on November 14.

The two other men arrested – a 26-year-old on suspicion of aggravated burglary and a 29- year-old on suspicion of GBH with intent and aggravated burglary – have both been released on bail until November 4.

Police are continuing to appeal for information about the incident.
