A child was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Westcliff.
Emergency services attended the scene in London Road yesterday morning with witnesses claiming the road was shut after the child was struck by the vehicle.
Other witnesses said they saw paramedics following the incident near the junction with Hamlet Court Road.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 8.19am on Wednesday 2nd November to London Road in Westcliff with reports that a child had been hit by a car.
"An ambulance and rapid response vehicle were sent to the scene. The child was transported to Southend Hospital for treatment.”
