THE EKCO radio will no doubt evoke feelings of nostalgia for many people.

Once one of the largest employers in Southend, life on the factory floor will be celebrated at an exhibition at Southend Central Museum, which will run for one year starting this month.

EKCO:100 Years of Design and Innovation in Southend will be launched on November 2022 26.

The exhibition will feature experiences of factory workers and significant figures, including founder Eric Kirkham Cole and renowned designers Wells Coats and Serge Chermayeff.

It will also feature original EKCO radios, televisions and domestic plastics produced between 1920 and 1970, and visitors will also find out about the largely unknown role that workers fromEKCOplayedduringthe Second World War.
