POP superstar Gary Barlow said he “loved” being in Southend after a week of sensational performances.
The Take That icon took to the stage and wowed crowds four times this week in Westcliff’s Palace Theatre.
His show, A Different Stage, saw the 51-year-old narrate the journey of his life alongside the music with long-time friend and collaborator Tim Firth.
Following his final performance on Friday evening, Barlow thanked Southend for making him feel so welcome.
“Thank you Southend, what a great week. Lovely audiences,” he said via his Instagram page.
“Such a delight to have been here this week.”
The pop superstar, who hails from Cheshire, said he “loved being here” as he soaked-up a beautiful sunset on the seafront.
He also shared a picture of himself in front of beach huts and a video of the view from his hotel room.
Barlow even took the time to shout out the Roslin Beach Hotel, in Thorpe Bay, following his stay.
He added: “If you ever visit Southend you have to give this place a go @RoslinBeachHotel.
“Absolutely brilliant place, amazing food, great staff and those views.”
Echo readers were quick to share their joy at the high praise being lauded on the city by the legendary musician.
Tracy Conyard, who went to one of the sold out shows, said: “It was really good and he’s such a wonderful story teller, the best show I’ve seen in a long time.
Sallyann Holland revealed the tickets sold out almost instantly, such was the hype surrounding Barlow’s appearances.
“I was online on the first day at 10am and it was sold out at 10am,” she said.
Lindsay Wood described Friday night’s show as “fab” while Sarah Spicer said it was “super”.
The iconic venue itself, which provides drama, music and more, even attracted some praise from those soaking-up the show.
Rob Howlett said: “It was a brilliant show in a beautiful old theatre.”
And Donna Pratt said she loved every minute, adding: “Gary was amazing, it is such a fantastic show.”
